Pim Benus, born in Gramsbergen, the Netherlands, working and living in Groningen.
In my early youth I got fascinated by the visual possibilities of photography. Later on, educated and working as an architect, I used my photography for documentation and presentation. Since the 90s I turned back to photography as an autonomous medium.
Travelling and hiking through nature I cut out, with my camera, those views and details who give me a kind of abstract emotion, perceiving a detail but feeling the whole landscape. It leads to intimate impressions, indefinite views, sometimes decorative details, without documenting the reality of the landscape. It is the fixed view, the cut-out and the catched light that causes the emotional, spiritual load and reflects the relation between me and nature.
